Stories from the Swamp

by Kelley K

Alligator hunting season, oh my! Lost a few scaly friends this week, as well as almost every one of the best shady spots to the suspension traps. Had a gruff interaction with some of the hunters, and now we have a tropical storm upon us! What a week!

Witnessing changes in the showing of wildlife, and see interesting amazing new sights. The mammals of the swamp make appearances this week including raccoons and a swimming squirrel! The Chinese tallow aka Florida aspen foliage is changing and dropping into the bayou. Always a beautiful worthwhile trip, and despite the changes in the scenery, there are those steadfast beings such as the Spanish moss, who grow to be closer and closer acquaintances on the path. Life is good in the swamp. Let’s get out of town.
